Yes. The Marines Lav 25. Same as the Coyote or the Australian one.

Not sure, Luke from WWPD had the cover only at Historicon apparently

Here's hoping the HMMVs are in plastic...

I posted on the BF forum that the appearance of the USMC Lav-25 has nothing to do with the Canadians entry into TY. The Coyote Recce vehicle didn't come into service until 1996.

I guess this could go elsewhere, but we've already started to talk about Stripes.

The Battlefront forum has an interesting thread on the recent Historicon Nationals for Team Yankee.

Here is the first takeaway from one of the participants.

"We had a wonderful "think tank" session with Pete S. of BF on Sunday. They will bring TY in line with V4 so we don't have to juggle two sets of similar rules in our heads. They think that should also solve some of the morale problems. Phil is supposed to look at air and tweak it, although no radical changes. No cards decks, but when TY Vietnam is released in Jan., they will include a card deck with the book and see how that works. The 234 page Vietnam book looked great! Stripes will not include M-1A1 or Bradleys, but does have cav squadrons. Forces of War coming out in a few months for TY. "

The second one concerns AA. If you have lots of AA, you can really blast aircraft out of the sky. Maybe that's why a lot of armies didn't bring aircraft.

So TY and V4 will "merge" then - am I reading that right?

the rule sets really should be merged, they are very similar, but I prefer the way TY Arty Works over FoW V4

Tough one; on one hand, as the rulesets are so similar, it would be very confusing for a casual player to keep the status quo; on the other hand it means that BF will have to make an extra effort to keep the meta for each era distinct (otherwise there will be less incentives for people to collect multiple eras). ie:

EW: tankettes
MW: Eastern Front bloodbath + asymmetric warfare. And some sandbox action for some Allies players.
LW: WW2 'toys'
Pacific: landing craft
Vietnam: Air cav galore,
AIW: Only Middle East setting
TY: Anyone not read Red Storm Rising as a kid?

I think the rules can be different between TY and FOW in fact they should he different,

I just mean that the rules should be aligned so they don't contradict, for example Arty should work the same in both games, spearhead should work the same etc..

There are alot of rules that are the "same" but they work differently, either give them different things or make them the same.

TY has lots things FoW doesn't like misiles, helicopters, etc

So if a rule is in both games they should be the same but each ruleset should have unique rules? I think that's kind of what I wrote...

Essentially, I was just clarifying that rules with the same name, and basic mechanics should work the same,

I still think there is enough flavour to keep both TY and FoW alive if they do that,

A good analogy actually is Warlord Games and how Black Powder, Pike & Shotte and Hail Caesar have largely similar mechanic over the 3 games. I think the main confusion was, we got used to the way morale and spearheading worked in TY, and then its more restricitve (and to be honest, balanced) in Version 4 now. So to clean that kind of thing up, thats fine for me.

Using a ruleset that only a few have even read probably isn't the best analogy but I guess the point is made Smile

ps: a while back we were talking about using a hacksaw on some tomato juice cans to make airplane bunkers. I've since upgraded my hacksaw so I have a shitty spare one if you want it.
