Hey Guys, here is a picture of my first attempt at painting some FoW stuff. I got the Open Fire! pack that comes with 3 shermans and 2 StuGs. The shermans were done with some old modeling paint I had laying around. For the StuGs I bought the German armour paint set as well with some brown washes. I plan on getting better.

Great job on the StuGs! I can't tell on the Sherman's as they are a bit in shadow. They seem pretty dark but that's likely because you used whatever paint you had around.

Much better work than my first FoW attempt, lol.

Looking good, and also better than my very first Crusaders .. that alomst sounds like a children's toy "My First Crusader, where you think they are good tank until you field them in your first battle, and realize they are worthless"

If I may suggest? I see you used brown weathering on the sides of the shermans.. GW makes a great paint called Armageddon Dust. Its a drybrush paint, almost dry enough to be a pigment. It also has little bits of sand in it.. I used them on my Free French and it made such a huge difference. Now its lighter tone than the brown you used, but thats fine, the lighter mud color means it has dried, the darker means its still wet there.

Also, if you look at WWPD Steve's stuff he uses a black line pen to do the panel work. On a tank like a Sherman, where it is just one flat color, this works out wonderfully. I used one from De Serres at St Laurent, actually I have 2 gauges of em now, 010 and 005, and they are a godsend. Lemme see if I can find pics of my stuff from work here (its like living in North Korea the access I get)

Found: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] you can see the blacklining I used with the 005 black pen too. But you can see how the paint goes on quite subtly if you do it in light applications. Takes longer but worth it. I use a LARGE walmart craft brush for this, as the GW style paintbrushes are too small, carry less pigment for this kind of work.
