So I was on steam last night (been sick the last couple days) and I found this new FTP game called Star Conflict. Its basically WOT in space, BUT its a complete and total rip off of EVE. Everything about it is eve, the guns are hybrid/railgun (Kinetic), laser (thermal), and plasma (EMP). You have mods slots in the ships that you can put shield regens, shield boosters, shield hardeners ect, same with Hull (they didnt use armour and hull). Then you have all the passive slots ect they basically took EVE and put it in WOT.

The nice thing about it is your slotted only with people who have the same tech level as you have as your active ships (you can have 3 active ships for each mission but only fly one at a time). So if you have 2 tech 1 ships and 1 tech 2 ship you will be slotted vs T2. If you have 2T 2 and 1 T6 you will be slotted vs tech 6 which makes your t2 ships not as effective obviously.

I'm just goofing around in the game just thought i'd throw it out there I know how we all liked EVE and this game basically EVE combat without the waiting to get a group, there is also pve which is 4 players (1 life each) vs bots doing various missions (i have yet to successfully win one). Arcade mode you get to respawn, regular mode you only get your 3 ships (or 4 after your get rank 12, or buy it with gold). There is gold items but as far as i can tell they are identical to the higher grade of the weapon, so you pay real money insted of ingame, so there isnt that pay to win as much as other games.

I went Jericho cause i like the look of their starer ship, You can pick any race and play any ship, you just goto contracts once your ingame and choose a different faction (there are 2 contract companies per side, not sure what they do yet). Also there are implants just like EVE, You never see yourself so it doesnt matter what your starting race looks like.

I found the registration a bit of a pain, I made the account fine but then you have to go into your account setting and there is a box to change from them making your password to you making your own, then you put in your own. Took me a few min to figure that out. If you do try it out I'd sudjest getting it through steam. It's only 1.4 gigs

That sounds pretty neat Chris, I was just talking to Den about something like this last night. I wanted to play EvE again, but only for the battles, so I figured I'd just play STO, even though I loathe the ground missions with a fiery passion.

I'm having fun, i keep trying to patch PS2 but its like 5 gigs, I need to switch to unlimited. It's only 1.4gigs so i was like if its crap its not a lot to DL nor is it a lot of time to DL. Whichever faction you choose or want to use ships, like if you g oempire but want to use jericho ships, choose a contract early so you can start getting ranks with one of the factions. Even if its and Empire faction and you are empire.

Its well balanced, I managed to kill a few ships and I always get tons of assist per match, I buy the low end equiptment, ie T1 mk1 rail gun is 260 dps the T1 MK2 is 278 but the price is like 40x more, Stuff is cheap to start but ofcourse get expensive quick, you start with 7 days of premium so bonus to money and exp.

My name is Lothlann if anyone tries it out and wants to friend me. also you can unequipt ships like EVE so you dont need to buy 100 of the same modual, since you only can have 3 ships. You just have to keep them in the same class and rank, So everything is ranked via size of ship, fighter, frigate ect. Then Tech 1 tech 2, you can't use T2 in T1 and visvera (just makes you have to spend more credits).

Sounds awesome, but I am already spending too much time playing Vidjemo games and not painting as is! WoW and BF3.. figured PS2 was fun, but I didnt like how everyone was playing not to "win" but to maximaize Certs, IE, no one defends, everyone attacks unmanned places, etc. So I went back to BF3 and LOVE IT. WoW is wow, I log in every now and again, do a few dungeons, lvl my crafting a bit, then log out. What I need to do is get back to painting. I found the best "MMO" for this was EVE (afk mining, or autopilot means you cna paint) and Aces High, if on a bombing run, you get 30 minutes on your climbout to paint, and if you are htting multiple bases, about 5 minutes between each base to paint, then another 15 or so minutes to land. So all told, your hour long flight, you painted during 45 minutes of it.

Glad you arehaving fun with it. I hear War THunder is what WoAirplanes should be, but again, Ill get sucked into it if I start. I WANT to play WoT to do the brit tanks, but don;t want to be sucked in again. hah. I have no willpower

Like I saw on one WT video -- how can you have a warplane game (ie: WoA) without the brits?. BTW: he also said that in WT the bombing part is completely unrewarded.

I still play WoT but I'm finding more and more that the new stuff is somewhat unbalanced (probably because the Russians have a completely different play style than us -- they zerg it up while we are more sniper-tastic. So autoloader and derp tanks have completely different values in these environments...)

i've been playing eve on and off for the past few years, basically when they give me a free week/month. All i do is mine and manufacture stuff atm.

why not there isn't hub based quests. Eve is nothing but hub based, its the worst for it.

Ya; as a PvE game EVE is pretty dreadful -- as a PvP is great but "time commitment" is an understatement.

I was never a mission runner, so the PVE was more open to me, I mined, went Ratting......etc.

so you went from astroid hub to astroid hub mining/ratting... then ran back to station to drop off stuff, then went back out to astroid hub, I don't see the difference of that and quest hubs.

I just find EVE to slow going, its an amazing game, but I always find myself doing everything solo which in eve isn't very fun.

I tried a bit of doing quests but you just end up and these huge length travel trips accross the universe that are autopiloted and take forever. I tried mining but you are basically just sitting there watching you hold fill up and not really do anything. It's a cool concept but I just don't see the fun of playing it.

This is what usually comes down to for me too. PvP isn't even great as you can rarely do anything until you are in a corp and have plans and stuff. No ganking lowbies like WoW, lol.

I love the look of EvE and could seriously watch my ships unload racks of missiles all day long because it looks so cool, but it just gets dull really fast...

thats why i'm enjoying star conflict, its space combat, as you get new ships you have more slots to play with and put in fun stuff like eve. Right now I have a little Interceptor with a shield vampire, target painter, and a shield regener. It only has 2 guns so does no damage but its quick and i can circle larger ships so they cant hit me.

It sounds like they made World of Spaceships and ripped off EVE equally with X3 or something.

Star conflict sounds like a really cool game, if I had a PC that was set up for gaming I would try it out for sure. But my aparement just has room for a single desk and I use that for painting only, playing games on a mouse and keyboad using a coffe table couch and tv is just bad so I gave up playing computer games. It's mostly for email and stealing tv shows now!

Excited to hear they were coming out with a console version of Diablo 3. Maybe they wil make a console version of star conflict or something similar someday too and I will play that then. I remember we had this old star wars game for computer bakc when I was a kid where you were an imperial star fighter pilot and you flew around in tie fighters blowing up rebel stuff and such, was awesome.

My main issue with EVE was that you guys switched corps/alliances every two weeks. Maybe it was a symptom of dissatisfaction with the game (like it was missing 'something')...

The fact they played the same game long enough to switch corps was impressive. Usually it's a few weeks and next game, lol

I'm a follower, not a leader, so I followed the group, in EVE and with other MMO's. That being said, sometimes we HAD to leave certain areas (Wars) and corps (because they were dickheads)

These days, I just play what I want now, and folks want to come with thats fine, but if not, not a big deal. I just find my time is finite now, so I can;t dabble in multiple games anymore. Getting a bit bored of WoW, but my brother super enjoys it so I'll stay subbed for when he is on, and do the occasional playing. What I really need is a game where I can paint and play. Aces High comes to mind, when on Autopilot, I got a lot done on bombing runs!

But I need my fast paced shooter too, which I have BF3 for. Planetside was cool, but again, there is no reason to ever defend, and while its neat for a while to own territory, in 30 minutes it could all be gone because you got Zerged, and no one wants to defend because you get more Certs for attacking not defending (the Crown notwithstanding)

Meh, I got some painting in last night for once because I wasnt on WoW, it was good. I ought to have my AA halftracks done for the weekend.
