Pet LW tourney - 25 June

Hey Guys,

I haven't played V4 LW yet, but I was thinking of heading down for this, I think it will help me decide about nationals,

Anyone else thinking of going down for this?

Oh, you mean the post right below mine about the exact same topic, that I probably should have noticed before I made this thread..

I will almost certainly be going, even if I am learning the rules during the event, I am pretty good with the TY rules and they are similar..

Are there cards to download for LW units? I am thinking of bringing my LW Germans, maybe Elefants or Tigers..

At least I won't be the only one from the Ottawa crew there

Yeah, I'll probably be trying to get up there to play. I can drive the three of us (room for two more if anyone is reading). 

There are no cards for any early or late war models. Some people have made their own using templates. I might try and hunt them down when I get a chance.

I made a day trip up there to grab the last few models I needed and talked to the guys there. It seems that V4 really killed the local scene. Everyone was playing Bolt Action, and Gary seems to be doubling down on it, as he brought in over $10,000 of product.

So it sounds like the Pet tournament will be a learning V4 tournament for everyone.

The whole, pick multiple formation thing is going to kill V4 simply because people will min max lists using it. like if i wanted to i could take min unit of infantry company, says its my "main" list, making me an infantry company, then take 3 tank companies and put down like 12 t-34/85. which fins could never have done in V3. (didn't do the math, just a random example).

It gives everyone the option of running infantry list, take the minimum infantry needed, then take any other company you like the main unit, as long as you only take support units from the infantry list your fine. Most infantry lists have better support options any ways then armoured.

The catch would be for tournament organizers to say, only one formation. But if they don't people can make some crazy lists. like the what 60 or so Zis-3 guns Matt Varnish posted a month or so ago.

I can't help but keep coming back to the fact that one of the guys in charge of Battlefront was in a position of power with Games Workshop when they really started to shit the bed...

im all for v4, it probably still plays well, just not in an uber competitive sense, or like i said, make a 1 formation limit for ew and lw, so its the same as it now, the problem with that it would be much easier to formation kill against certain lists be cause their main formation units are weak or few of them.

Not sure what i'm doing that weekend, i haven't been to a pet tournament for a long time.
