I had a great time, as did the other guys from our group that attended this year. Stay tuned for articles, and video from the event, Dennis secured the most votes overall for another Best Painted award, well done buddy. There were a lot of good armies and showings from outside areas, including two other clubs that had more people attending than from Ottawa/Pet, which is a little sad to be fair. Hopefully we will see some more FoW being played over the next little while and at least 2-3 more of us representing our area and more importantly our club at future events.

way to bring everyone down. This'll cheer you up, pictures of my army getting destroyed by various degrees of bad luck, bad strategy and bad tactics! If I had won my last game I woulda been in 5th Sad

was a good weekend,

I am definitely stoked to start playing some mid war, i'm not really sure what army I want to play for MW, I think I will need to sit down and read through the books to see whether I like Germans, Brits, or 'Mercans more. They are pretty different in MW, vets, trained, or green..

I think I'll be playing some MW to, but skipping the new books and continue to just build lists and use the current EW/LW book for the rules. It's just too messy right now, and all they did was release a US book for no real reason except to take away the fact that MW is a complete disaster right now......

My plan is to pick a list of of the 3 valid books and build a list, there will be 4 or 5 books out for next year's Nationals, so I would like to start playing with the new lists,

That and MW tourney that comes up in pet or else where will almost definitely only allow the new books so I might as well get used to it,

What's wrong with the new MW books? From the little i looked at Den's books when i got them for him they seemed fine to me. Very TY army selection but nothing wrong with that. The only thing i didn't like is the british motor infantry had no motors but the americans do.

FOW isn't trying to be historical any more, they don't care that the 7th didn't have X unit at X battle and the 21st had Y unit and X battle. They are just giving you any choice you want of what they say is available at that front and you pick which units you want to mash together. Which is a fine way to do it, it gives you more flexibility and makes the armies more generic and should be more balanced, as long as the points per unit are accurate.

I'm waiting for the TY rule set release in November - interested to see how it compares to V4 - I won't be surprised if they tweak something that makes TY a slightly better rule set.
Battlefront are not likely (based on the past few years) to actually make the two rule sets the "same" - I firmly believe one will play "better" or smoother than the other.
Now, they could surprise me, and make them basically the same game, which if that happens, means I will probably play more TY. I simply prefer the aesthetic and the added tactics of helos, etc

November releases will show my path forward with Battlefront games.

When I spoke with Dave about the new TY rules this past weekend I got the impression the new TY rules were going to bring TY in line with V4,

It will be interesting to see though, in the meantime, I think I will focus on a MW list so I can start getting in gear for MW next summer Smile

Looking forward to playing more TY though too!

It really sounds like Battlefront is going to just make Team Yankee into Version 4 with extra special rules (eg. helicopters).

Also, if you are interested in a mid-war army, just let me know... Fandom II was having a buy one get one free sale for Midwar during Nationals with the twist of the "free" had to be the opposing faction... And I am weak...

So I now have a fair amount of Brits and Germans... And cause FDB had a Patton's First box that someone opened and sold back to them, I got a box for really cheap. Even though I have a resin American army already. =P

So take your pick if you're interested.

I'll wait a bit and see what other lists are coming. For me, it has zero to do with equipment, just get some more stuff out.....

I've been wanting to do an Australian Divisional Cav and/or Siege of Tobruk army for years now, and this is kinda my excuse, but for Nationals I'd like to do something silly. There just isn't much silly stuff out for mid-war right now... Well, much of anything really...

It is. I bought the card deck and promptly lost only the Formation card for the Australian Divisional Cav =P So I will probably get a new deck... Anyone want a Desert Rats Deck (-1 Australian Divisional Cav Card) cheap?

So the problem with mw is there is the books don't have enough formations and unit types?

Currently there is only:

The "Desert Rats": Motor Rifle Company, Grant Tank Company, Honey Stuart Tank Company, and Crusader Tank Company
The "Afrika Korps": Motor Rifle Kompany, Panzer III Tank Company, and Panzer IV Tank Company
The "American 1st":  Infantry Rifle Company, Armoured Infantry Company, Sherman Tank Company, M3 Stuart Company, and M3 Grant Company.

That's it...

And here I am twiddling my thumbs on my pile of T-34's...

Unit upgrades, a couple formations, a few "warrior" special rules (eg. your command unit gets an extra special rule but is a normal command unit otherwise), etc.
