Moderns 1500 pt list, Easy Army

Easyarmy.com has the Fate of the Nation lists up for free.   As Gary was gracious enough to let me break down 2 boxes to buy one py76 and one btr50k, once I paint them up, I will be able to run the following 1500 pt United Arab Republican army:   T-55 command with stabs and IR, company of ten T-55s with stabs and IR (T-72BMs subbing in for these), then ten T-54s (North vietnamese K3, I just need 5 more) AA section with 2 ZSU-57s, scout platoon with 1 BTR-50PK command, and 6 PT-76's, 2 infantry platoons with 4 AT assets, and finally a MiG-21 for air support.    Give me until around new years day, and this will ALL be painted.     And anyone who wants to get games in, even with stand-ins like me (Sorry not dropping 150 bucks on 10 more T-55s when I already have 12 T-72s, they look really similiar) we can get it on like Donkey Kong.

So fire up easy army, and see what sort of counts-as you can make

This game looks like a lot of fun. I was thinking a IDF but after looking over the rule the Jordianians look pretty sweet!

I have a friend who has a bunch of AMX's for sale, but he doesn't answer email. Have to try and run into him at Hobby Centre or a hobby show. They are Roskopf models from the 70's, but though they say 1/90, they are pretty close to 1/100 and only cost 3 or 4 dollars each.

Totally realized I already have some of the units!!!

Going to pick up a couple paints tomorrow and practice on my priests and Halftracks.

Need to order AMXs, Halftracks, halftrack upgrade packs, and because they look awesome, some centurion tanks.

They do indeed look amazijg. Gary had two assembled and primed black... can't believe how massive centurions are

I think the scale is off for the centurion. There is an Easy Eight and centurion sitting side by side at the museum here and the size difference is very small.

Well the BF model for the easy eight is pretty big too, but for a Sherman. I wonder if the Israelis modified the Centurions more than just up arming the 20lb'er, when they redisignated them Sho'T's?

Looking into it a bit more the Centurion was 6' longer than an easy 8, almost same height, and almost 2' wider.

So if the BF model is a third again as long as the M4A3E8 model and about a quarter more wide it would make sense. If its bigger than that it would be quite off.

10 x T54
3 x PT-76 Recon tanks
2 mini platoons of infantry with bazooka thing
2 x ZSU-57 self propelled AA

1480 pts. Testing this out tonite vs Joyous Obliv.

This is what I just came up with for Israel [went with the Pattons as Centurions were used in the north]:

195 Magash 3

310 2x Magash 2

310 4x AMX with AA MG

Well it's actually nothing like that unless you just choose to use the very good tanks. Same thing as normal flames of war. If you don't like moderns that's fine, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but don't broadly label it as something that isn't even remotely accurate.

Besides, to draw a comparison, comparing 'moderns' as it is now would be like judging flames of war entirely on Blood, Guts and Glory, ie it's not an accurate representation it's just what there is currently.

And I'll support the shit out of it because I want more, lol.

What do you mean its nothing like that, there is 2 tanks in the game, well 3 if you include the amx light tank. They all have the same stats.

there is like 3 armour values on main battle tanks, 4, 7, 12. The AT is a little more varried 12 to 18 but mostly in the 14-16 range.

would you guys play FoaN stuff against Nam stuff? i kinda want to do US armoru and just paint them up with USMC markins

So I've found some Abrams tanks and other odds and end to bring me to 1500 for AI conflict that can also be played for moderns.  It's all USMC and I love the feel of them.  I even figured out a 'nam army that uses the same stuff.  

So when are other guys forces going to be done so I can plan to have mine done around the same time for a game?

I definitely won't even have most of my force until sometime soon after Xmas.

Oddly enough, I have most of the support for the list already (Halftracks and priests)
