Two games this weekend I deployed my 88's and in both cases they were able to get taken out of action. I think I will deploy them in mind of where my Infantry stands are going to end up. The 2" bubble of protection....somewhat should deter anyone from trying to get to them more easily. I think this list will be a little better once I tweak the AT in it.

Very true - however - your 88's will always draw people's attention - no one wants those to remain on the board any longer then they can help. They are truly dominating and people want them gone.

Covering them with a bubble of infantry is really solid, because it also could allow you to bring the 88's to bear on any armor that tries to assault the infantry (as long as you deploy it properly).

I have some 88s but haven't used them much. They look great on paper but definitely have some huge weaknesses; immobile being the primary one.

As they don't get concealment from foxholes you really want to put them in a treeline somewhere which implies that they can't be put in reserve...
