I know that I'm resurrecting a dead thread, but with Cold War Gone Hot, aka. "Team Yankee", for Flames of War, this is a pretty good game that feels fairly similar to Flames of War actually, except in RTS form. I really encourage you guys to give it a try.

Yeah.. RKelly (Rob) has the team yankee book (novel) and while it is very 'Murica, it is very cool... if you like US 'suffering terribly' in losing like 5 guys and the soviets losing entire motor companies and tank regiments at a time.

RKelly has a full Cdn 15mm Cold War army, I have a full 15mm Soviet (generic communists, actually, so PRK, NVA, W/e so long as they have a red star on teh turret) army ready to go for Team Yankee. We will likely do a full on bat rep with lots of pics the day we get our grubby mitts on the book.

Re: the RTS.. I suck at RTS's// I lose to ten year olds on Starcraft II.. because my APM is horrible and my econ is also horrible Smile

Ah, fantastic. I heard that there was another book simply titled "Chieftain" about a British tank crew, and that it was much more rough. That's the one I'd be more interested in. Definitely hope they have Challengers, as someone mentioned that the crew notes a Challenger 1 in the book.

As for War Game, check it out anyways. It's way different from Star Craft, and your APM does not need to be high. Tanks and Infantry move at the speed Tanks and Infantry would normally move, given the scale. It's more important to support your lines and counter your opponent's units. (eg. Use radar guided AA missiles against enemy air, but turn their radars off if your opponent is using units that can detect radar). The pace of the game is very slow.

the game was actually on sale yesterday, but it was a labour day sale so its over now, just checked. It's a fantastic rts, a lot of fun to play multiplayer. lots of micro management though.
