FireChat is this a thing?

Hey Guys,

Any of you ever used FireChat?

I like the idea of it supposedly using WiFi directly between two devices instead of through the internet. I like the idea of not needing internet/cell signal

Any experience with it?

I like the idea of communicating without needing a network,

but it does sound a little sketch..

Because people use it because it's "off the grid", like TOR, it makes you more suspect of using it for "nefarious" purposes.

Interesting I can see that some people done want their traffic being watched.

Problem is.. Is it for legit personal security or cause I are doing something wrong..

I dont care as much about the security, its the idea that if there are no networks two devices should still be able to talk to each other.. As long as they are physically close enough of course..

I can see how this is appealing to illegal activities too though

I signed up for it to give it a look, got a to be of "conform subscription" requests the next day tho, FYI

For TOR the case we jump to is, naturally, illegal and covert uses -- which would be a bad idea btw because it's been shown that the NASA has it cracked (of course).

Another use is anonymous reporting out of hostile regimes, and activities like that.
