So just to start another discussion about armoure lists I figure this would be better than doing it on Matt's announcement thread.

What do you guys think of Fireflies for this event? I'm kind of worried they'd be too fragile but their high AP might make up for it. Not having the book at work with me, can you do CT fireflies out of Market Garden or are all the lists CT?

The only Trained tank list that easy army lists is the 11th Armoured Recce squadron with Cromwells and Challengers, so no Fireflies.

all Canadian list in Market Garden are CV. you can do CT out of Overlord though

If you just want Shermans, the USA lists are nuts........

The TD's aren't illegal, if you don't deploy the Security Section. Then they are all tank teams. See? You have to think like a 40k player sometimes

Delayed reserves will be tough. The lists l, ve come up with are all 2 or 3 platoons. I forsee some sitzkrieging until my reserves show up.

TD/TD security sections are no longer Recce

Teams from a Self-propelled Anti-tank Platoon, Tank Destroyer
Platoon, or Towed Tank Destroyer Platoon use the Cautious
Movement and Disengage rules, and have the 3+ save for unarmoured
Jeep teams, as if they were Recce teams.

@ Thunder.. They are now once more illegal (since his posting his rules) since they are a reconnaissance CHOICE on the force org and not a TANK CHOICE.   Why is it human nature to always try and find ways around a limit when one is imposed

At least there are a few answers for King Tigers. Yes, I know TD are not considered recon anymore, but like it was mentioned, they are not an armored platoon choice. Unless they have changed their association as well because recon no longer applies. I might try and see if BF has ruled on that part of it.

Brad you bettet bring sometging from the book you helped write. The missions with reserves means having KTS will do little if I can't hold an obj. But I have choice lol. Its all I can take. Matt.. don't change the rules now.. if ists under recon.. it ain't a tank choice.

Ok so with the further restrictions, this seems to be a Return of the German Tanks tourney, lol.

Really not sure what to take now...I am not buying a new army just for this and sadly I think the US will get squashed since TD assets can't be taken.

Just to be clear (since the poster isn't) we can only take take tank platoons from an Armoured List? Does it have to say tank platoon or is it still just platoons consisting entirely of 'tank' type models??

I think the idea was moved to "TANK COMPANY" lists- meaning you could have Sherman combat platoons, and a TD support platoon.

But TD Companies are Mech, so they are out. US Armored lists can compete, easily, with Jumbos, Easy8, and TD support.

I'm not, but some of the rules HAVE changed around me, I was just curious as to whether not they are classified the same. I'm sorry if some guys don't want to possibly come because there might be a King Tiger lurking around...oh no!! How about some air, it's always worked for me in games where I was outmatched...just ask Tristan.

Ok, so I've been chewing this over some more.

We consider anything under "Tank teams" to be legal right? including it's sub-headings?

for example,

I've been toying with a list that has M-10's and Universal Carriers.

Both of these are listed as "Self Propelled Guns" and "Reconnaissance " respectively.

However, those listings are both sub-headings under "Tank Teams"

I've therefore come to the conclusion that neither of these qualify as my one non-tank platoon and I'm free to select another platoon.(Arty or Infantry for example)

Am I correct in these assumptions?

See i had suggested he make that more clear, but he said its crystal clear It says in the rules tank TYPE, IE it is an Armor choice. So despite the fact that Wespes are tank TEAMS, their choice TYPE is Artillery, not Armor. So Pumas would count as your non tank TYPE selection.

Fair enough, So were playing by what it actually is, as apposed to what the game says it is. Which is cool, I just had to make sure.

Won't it be under assault gun not tank? I know for the other large tank hunters they are grouped under tank and the. Under the sub heading tank hunter. So far I've come up with a couple of lists that are all tanks in the tank heading and sub heading. I see the hurricane, Hs 129B3 and Rudel being worth their weight in gold.
