So this was, imho, one of the better weekenders in a while. Lots of meaty content rather that them ruminating for hours on random stuff.
1. Dropfleet Commander from the guys that brought you Dropship Commander (with rules written by Andy Chambers that wrote the epic BFG ruleset). The big twist here is that it's not a space combat game but rather an orbital combat game.
- the objectives represent cities on the planet surface which need to be supplied with troops and tanks
- there's different levels of orbits High/Low/Atmospheric which different ships can go in etc.
- weapon ranges are infinite but there's a lock-on-range calculation: target acquisition range of your space ship combined with the signature of your target. Signatures of targets can be modified by running quiet / using afterburner / firing all batteries/etc.
I think it brings together a lot of different elements of games that I like and it might be "different enough" to be worth picking up. Still not a fan the Hawk art direction for their models though.

The Infinity sourcebook makes it seem like the Infinity world is deep enough for some really interesting RPG action and here you go.

Also Mantic remains the least original miniatures company by adding the Star Wars /Judge Dread, squats and clan rats factions to Warpath

I may have gone a little deep into Dropzone... (own all four factions to some degree or another...). I suspect I will not go quite as deep, but definitely get into drop fleet.
They mention that they're already done the models and working out the fine tuning on the rules, but they are going to kickstarter in order to fund the costs to make plastic molds for everything. The kickstarter will probably start within the next month.

Awesome! Some of us bought into the game, but there doesnt seem to be alot of people playing it. I own Shaltari, and would be down for re-learning the rules and playing some time.

Definitely. I ended up leaving most of it in Alberta when I moved up here, but will definitely bring some back with me when I visit over Christmas. I only got a Resistance starter with me at this time, but mostly play PHR.
