Apparently PHR and Shaltari are ready, but are going to be unlocked as kickstarter stretch goals. Seeing at where the kickstarter is in less than 24hours, I suspect that they'll update with those stretch goals unlocked pretty quick here.

I've been buying my Dropzone Commander directly from Hawk. They've always been really good in the customer service compartment. In fact, their stuff arrives really quick, faster than most of my stuff from the UK, and yet they always feel like they could have sent it faster, so they toss in an extra random free model. Accordingly, they're already got all the CAD's done, they're just raising money to make the plastic moulds (which can cost upwards of $30000).

The Beasts of War hr on it kind has me sold -- a bit like BFG with a bit more depth. Still not sold on the looks -- waiting for the PHR as well.

I really like starship combat games (thus interest in Armada and overall sadness BFG went the way of the dodo) so I'd probably be in though this likely won't be something we are playing till late 2016.

As for Drop Fleet, I'm definitely picking up the models simply cause I do like them. So if someone is interested but not sure they'll have someone to play with, I'll definitely be pledging.

The sheer variation of fleets is crazy - looks like about 20 different factions?!??!

Technically there are six "core" factions. And a ton of minor factions that are grouped together (more on this below).

However, in the fluff, three are allied against the other three and they are the main belligerents in the war (Dindrenzi, Directorate, and Relthoza vs. Terrans, Sorylians, and Aquans). Each of these sides created broader alliances that are the minor factions (Zenian Leauge vs. Alliance of Kurak).

So the six core races get full support (pretty much every class of ship) and constant expansions.

The minor races don't, but typically get enough for a Type 1, 2, and 3, ship (frigate size, cruiser size, battleship size). Regardless, they can be pretty fun and since you're not really playing a self contained mini faction, but the whole alliance, I think you can take other alliance ships.

Having watched the demo, and a demo of FireStorm Armada - I think Armada is a "better" system......

Looking at the two of them, I think that they're both "space fleet" games, but that's about where it ends. They're different kind of space games. Either way, I'll have both =P

I agree that the UCM have the nicest looking ships of the bunch -- I'm not sure about the rest. I wish that they didn't just use one platform for every single cruiser for a given nation. I guess it's for gaming purposes (and streamlining production) to keep it as simple as possible. I was holding out hope for the PHR but mehhh.
