Canadian Nationals
So, are there many of us attending this event this year? I'm hoping that some of you that have FoW armies of any nationality will be playing in it.
To be honest, I'm looking forward to it, haven't had much time to play lately, but I'm on holidays now and starting to feel like I need to play some FoW, Xwing and anything else.
I'm dissapointed my suggestion of moving the venue for Nats went ignored, im sure it's going to take a hit and there's no way they'll get the 20+ people to break even and that's just sad. But you could make it better by showing up. So please consider playing in this event with your friends and maybe even make some new ones in the process. (Right Kev?)

Ha ha, definitely. Wouldn't have met you guys if I hadn't made the split second decision to jump in while I was still unpacking.

The highlight will be the Team Yankee mega battle on the Friday night.

I think your jock column will do well if the tables are wide open like last year..

Does that translate to: The National Tournament for Game A will be highlighted by playing Game B on one night?
Not much incentive to spend a weekend and $$ on Game A....

Least it isn't an 11 hour drive to this nationals

We are fortunate to have it for sure - no doubts there. EW is a huge strike against it for me, as is the long weekend - oh, and a wedding in Niagra..lol
Re: Canadian Nationals
The Team Yankee mega game is free. The room will be sitting there all set up for us to use (says Louis). We are looking at setting up an 8 x 6 table and whoever shows up can play.

The 11 hour drive is with it for the event. I wouldn't drive 15 minutes for an early war event lol.
Hope they break even at least and can back to MW/LW.

I'd say for a mega battle you'd want at least an 8x12 and very likely bigger. Otherwise it'll just be squished multiplayer.
Re: Canadian Nationals
Bigger it is then. Will have to find out what people are bringing too.Matt Varnish wrote:8 by 6? we need way more than that Rob.

Obviously D is in for Friday and the weekend because it's in his backyard! I'll be likely busy over the next month trying to get my list tweaked.

Re: Canadian Nationals
it looks like they will probably come close to breaking even, then next year LW, then the year after MW, then EW again, 3 years from now is a long time, maybe nationals wont survive that long for other reasons,
that said i don't have an issue with playing EW every three years, but maybe 3 years from now we can TY nationals instead..

Re: Canadian Nationals
I posted on the BF forum for people to email what TY stuff they are bringing for the Friday night mega game so that we can work out the details. Perhaps we play on a 12 x 6 table with the Russkies attacking from the 6 foot side all the way up the autobahn.

Re: Canadian Nationals
Interestingly enough, during the Battlefront "Leopard weekend" videos, Phil mentions the game is not designed for tournaments as he feels that competitive play will break it down...

Re: Canadian Nationals
I think TY will have a hard time taking off if the game is not able to be played in tournaments,
I look forward to tournaments as a way to play, if it wasn't for the Pet FoW tourneys and Nationals, i likely would have dropped FoW a long time ago because they would be nothing to look forward to..
Tournaments/Events give people a target to paint towards and assurance that you will actually get to play the game,
my 2cents,

Re: Canadian Nationals
I feel as we get older, we shift from regular week games to only playing in events/tournaments. We all have lives and responsibilities now, but we can put aside a day or two every couple of months to play games. I feel Team Yankee will have to be driven by "Events" opposed to "Tournaments" per se. I know the only way I ever finish an army is by painting for a particular event or tournament in mind. *Frantically building all my TY stuff...*
