Ended up heading out to the movies with Jen and Tristan on Friday. Amy came as well, but she went to see something else, as she wasn't interested in Rogue One. I think it was well done, the CGI was pretty good for the character models, but I do miss the way the fighting scenes with the space combat better in the original movies using the models, rather than video game graphics (really good CGI again btw).
I'm at a solid 7 or 8 out of ten I think. Happy with the ending and the fact that major characters died and they didn't leave much as far as questions. Like what happened to Blue Squadron (stuck on planet and likely destroyed when the base went up in smoke). It definitely made me want to sit in the theater and wait for New Hope to start.....I would have paid for that for sure.
All in all, a good night out.

People make choices for a variety of complex, internal reasons. Or the scriptwriters thought having his castle on a lava planet was cool.

let Lava = red and red = evil.
therefore Lava = Evil.
QED?

Ugh, apparently Jyn Erso is anti-feminist because she won't let a kid die. I wish I were brave enough to risk my life to save a kid like that.

That said, it is true that Star Wars is stuck with the tech form the 70s. Not that the author of the article is familiar with the tech from Star Wars. Hyperspace is a different dimension, not a speed. It allows you to move a shorter distance, not faster, so there is no time dilation. Seems like someone watched Interstellar and thinks they're sophisticated.
Not that the rules in Star Wars are consistent.

i read the article quickly, the internet and networking part jumped out at me, hacking is called slicing, and when R2 is jacked into the door plug in cloud city he also got information that the millennium falcon hyperdrive was shut off. That was on the network, it wasnt just door control override, which shows that the facility was all linked together in a network and they were data ports.
There is the holonet which is the internet, not sure if any movies talk about it though, the emperor had it on China style lock down.

It's just a plot device,
If she hadn't saved the kid, should would not have been I. The open and the other guy would not have shot and killed the rebel..
And then they would not have been in the jail cells (or might have been less believable), and then they would not have met the freighter pilot..

K-2SO reminded me a lot of Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory.

I don't mind at all that she saved the kid. It was an illustration of her character where she sees the immediate issue and takes action. I just don't like how they equated saving the kid as being a "traditional gender-role"
Anyone having trouble posting? Seems like if I write too much it won't post.

Its hilarious.. waaagh her saving the kid is some gender profiling bullshit. Unless that kid her mom were on the same transport out of jeddha as the "better watch yourself" aliens from episode iv.. before the death star vaporises the planet.. she didnt save jack squat. This movie easily has the most implied deaths ever. All of jeddhs destoyed. All of scarif destroyed. All the crew of those pinballed star destroyers etc.. all killed. And werr tslking about whether jyn was gender profiled. This is why i rarely read forums.. and i especislly stay off political.. movie.. or video game forums.. too much stupid

Yeah,
I think the profiling is a stretch, the article is good but the author is reaching on a few things..

The original script had shots of the mother and daughter moments before the death star destroyed the city. Deemed to dark by the Disney overlords though.
