Out of the Loop/Returning to Gaming!

Hey all, I’ve been awol for a few months now but finally getting back to doing hobby stuff (40k orks lol).

What games are being played now? Is FoW v4 any good? Are French out in team yankee?

Well damn, I don’t have Legion, don’t have Team Yankee and don’t have rules for FoW v4 lol.

Only hobby thing I’ve done in the last 6 months is try to build terrain so I can host 40k games again.

I enjoy the new version - My Noise Marines are decent but have been surpassed by newer releases I believe - Legion is a great game though, seems to be gaining steam too!

Do you know anything about the new Kill Team? I really liked the old version and its an easy way to get back in.

It’s basically the 40k answer to shadespire I think since shadespire has been so successful. I’m liking the support the non-core games are getting these days.

FoW late war right now is a bit wonky, they used the GW method of releasing the new rules and no new army books. The way you pick your lists now is like team yankee with the formations, but the army books were never designed to be like that. As for mid war im still waiting for the soviet book to officially come out, its been what a year and a half?

I still have all my Star Wars Armada stuff and im hoping to actually get a campaign running once i move (going to munster) and will have a basement that can fit a few tables.

Cool Chris, campaign sounds fun. I may actually buy into Armada by the end of the summer if my trip out east doesn’t sap all my funds next month...

Im down to play more Armada and even try Xwing 2.0 when it releases...both are solid games and we have all the models already

How do the rules look?

There's at least a pdf out, not sure about the official release. They don't have AMX 13 75s but AMX 30s. Might have to go with Israeli FoaN force.

The rules appear solid. Movement is single straight moves with a pivot before and after. Roll a certain number of dice based on remaining ranks, opponent rolls defense dice. There are abilities that modify and abilities that apply a condition which is a token spent by the opponent to force re-rolls.

Alternating activations.

One interesting wrinkle is that there are non-combat units which can claim spots on a shared tactics board to give boosts to your unit. You have to decide whether you need to activate a unit to maneuver or grab a spot with an ncu. This allows characters from the books to participate where they wouldn't make sense.

It really reminds me of Saga - simple roll to hit, roll to defend mechanics plus "battle boards" in the form of the shared tactics board. Plus they're out of the gate with multiple factions. Starks vs. Lannisters plus "neutrals" which can form their own army or appear as allies. They've also announced a Nights Watch starter set.
