Looks like local FOW and TY tournaments in May.

Infinity and Legion - cool - The site doesn't list and address, yet they have a GW webstore. Anyone know where are they located?
Re: Canadian Tabletop Championships
Everything seems to be run out of Ottawa. And they have weekly Kill Team sessions at a restaurant in Orleans.

FOW is listed under casual play so there might not be a tournament for it. All the FF Star wars games are Flagship tournament and infinity, Warmachine would be but they aren't holding the tournament because it overlaps with another major warmachine tournament (SSO). Looks like a good time in any case.
Re: Canadian Tabletop Championships
one of the guys from Cdn Nationals wants to spearhead a Flames tourney for this...

Ryan Sullivan is running the TY. He's thinking 5 games over two days. I'm in for sure.

There's also a gofundme which may be worth contributing to. I think there's a need in the city for more gaming conventions.
I'm a little worried though as the person organizing everything is very passionate. It can be good, but he also blasted on Facebook about SJWs accusing him of fraud because another Facebook group decided that personal gofundme campaigns were against group policy. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Is it me or do the prices seem high? No Team Yankee yet.

Does it include your meals, free parking and a swag bag? If not then that's VERY high prices
No mention of prizes or support...
Oddly they all stipulate : Does not include access to play in the Open Gaming Area -- wtf?
Also kinda random. $45 for SW Legion, $90 for Infinity? HUH?!?! Seems arbitrary due to popularity maybe?
I agree Ottawa needs more events, and props to the guys here for being so ambitious but it just seems odd to me, and potentially profit motivated.
Re: Canadian Tabletop Championships
Did you read how the format works? play X games then get kicked out. For example 40k is 5 games, so $110 for 5 games, if you aren't in the top 16 your out for the rest of the tournament. You can then pay an extra $20 to play on the open tables (which is usually $30).
Legion is 4 round, no playoff at the end, only $45 for the first 6 people out of 32.

Ryan says he is hoping to price TY at about $5 over the admission cost.

Re: Canadian Tabletop Championships
$45 is not too bad if prize support is amazing I guess. I guess the $110 for 40k etc was just like
Re: Canadian Tabletop Championships

Not likely - the Facebook site [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] lists the address as 715 Cooper St. Ottawa, Ontario
Mr. Google Maps tells me that is the Rideau Curling Club
I don't want to discourage more events in Ottawa, but man, that's NOT a $90-$110 (EARLY BIRD) venue by any stretch.
Re: Canadian Tabletop Championships
This really feels like a hobbyist who is trying to fill a hole, likely one who doesn't attend a lot of events since we don't have that many in Ottawa. $30 for a 1 day pass for access to a vendor hall and board games seems like too much.
Re: Canadian Tabletop Championships
I honestly do hope to be proven wrong in this instance, and that it is successful and spawns more events at a better price point.
Re: Canadian Tabletop Championships
Yeah, this just sounds like the new version of cangames..
Prices are pretty steep, I'll have to see what my schedule is like

Re: Canadian Tabletop Championships
They tried to get EY Centre but then comiccon pulled a non compete. Apparently 2 fucking boardgames played at comiccon is enough to kaibosh the bigger ctc. Thats a real dick move, Comiccon.. you really think youre going to lose folks to this event? One week apart? Jerks

Interesting,
There are other venues other then EY,
The Nepean Sportsplex was good, and I think it is cheaper then EY.
