Re: Game Summit
Last year it was in September, and there was previously talk of having one this year, but there hasn't been a peep on the GS side about this & usually registration is underway at this point.

Re: Game Summit
Here's an idea for a tournament (if we are worried about games timing out in infantry camp-outs):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Guns of August I95 FoW Tournament "Rolling Steel"
I95 Guns of August Saturday Rolling Steel Flames of War Tournament
1030 Start time Saturday August 24th
This will be a three round Tournament with 1500 point Mech and Tank Late-War war armies. Each tournament round will last 2.5 hours. Each player is responsible for bringing a Late-War army that is rated as a Tank company or Mech Company. Your force may not contain more than 1 Artillery Unit. All rules contained in the basic Flames of War rulebook 3.0 will be used. Backgrounds are not required. No vehicle model, gun model or infantry team substitutions are permitted. No unpainted teams will be allowed. The Missions will be mostly be mobile ones...

Re: Game Summit
that could really limit who would be able to attend, there are a lot more infantry lists than both mech and tank lists combined(i think)

LOL of course you wouldn't Rob! I think you tweak your list one more time and take some more Canadian assets other than artillery and you have a winning list. the experience you picked up at Nationals will likely pull your game ahead of a lot of other people.
Dwayner......I get what you're saying about times. I for one, had no issues with the 'camping' that was going on. The bottom line is, if there are Infantry defending, people are too timid or stupid to go and dig them out. 2.5 hours is a lot of time, maybe not for 1780 points. I think that was a stretch, 1500 points is fine, and if there are some people that think the games were going too long, they should put their opponent on the clock. I had one game where I don't think my opponent wanted me to get another turn, he moped around trying to find something to do on his turn before he would let me take mine knowing there was only 15 minutes left.......he assaulted a bailed out tank with ONE independent team. the rest of the platoon was dead already. I get one platoon kill and worked my ass off for it and all he could say was "I have 10 platoons, so it doesn't count" guess I should have known that, but I didn't....it's never come up in a tournament for me before.
I think arty has it's limitations, in events like this....kills don't mean squat, it's not like you are going to have a chance to break Coy morale......it rarely happens, I know it happened to Dennis, but that's a 1% of the time with bad rolls and some luck the other way. he replays that game, and it wouldn't happen again. You need to either capture or DEFEND and objective, that's where the wins come from and that's how buddy who won nationals smoked everyone he played.

Re: Game Summit
Kills might not win you the game on their own (but they can and I lost 1 game to Rob's artillery this way), but it's sure easier to attack/defend and objective if you can kill a bunch of your opponents teams!
Thanks;

Re: Game Summit
@Matty Re: the 10 platoon thing. I too worked my ass off against an Italian player at last years Nats to finally get one platoon kill, only to be told it didn't count as he had 9+ platoons too, lol. Some lessons suck to learn at Nats.
