Drew won overall because he got 6-1 on all three games, Rob got best painted, Darby got best sportsman, Gary had an advance copy of Desperate Measures, and he had for some reason 3 Tiger I-Ps for sale. First time ive ever seen them ever. I bought some PzrJgr I's and some 7.5 cm IG guns. Tripple brought some polish peasant/german polizei list, with a train. Crazy list. I did shitty thanks to tables..super amounts of terrain.

he ran the lw tank list, US, with patton. I think its a variation on the popular US list, except with the Avengers theme going on.

May be why I only want to run scenarios or historical based games these days.......Brett and I were talking about getting something specific going over the winter....

That is an interesting article for sure, some good points and some I'm not sure are a big deal, only a couple of them really have to do with the rules thou. To me I think one of the big problems is that it is becoming overly competitive, maybe that is just a personal thing, but I am feeling there is some pressure or expectation to do good. At Fall-In I played in the SAGA tournament instead of FoW for that reason basically, especially in the states it's just to competitive, but feel that with SAGA it doesn't really matter who wins and your just there to have fun.

I still like FoW but am less excited to play it then I was last year at least. That likely also has something to do with the fact that I already have so many armies so that it's hard to get into collecting more.

I'm planing to do a beach landing force for the Caen campaign we are doing over the winter, but finding it hard to get going.

It's a shame because the German Heavies used to be balanced by their points ("why have an unkillable unit if your enemy can win without killing it"). Sure running a horde of PzIVs is the new 'meta' but tbh... if I wanted to run a horde of tanks in LW I would have bought Shermans!

It's a shame that in the rush to get the new 'must buy hotness' entire swaths of lists just aren't used.

I think if we want to pursue tournaments in the future we should consider either running mid-war or restricting list selection to specific book pairings that dodge the most egregious of these lists (ie: Bridge-by-bridge versus a Bridge to Far). Perhaps with some considerations for count-as to get as many people playing as possible. I don't think we should get into the business of comp since those are abuse-able and often catch up the wrong people... Hmmm; f'it -- let's just do mid-war.

This is, like in my blog post on about this, people want to the play with the cool stuff from Late War - and who can blame them? Like the article states, Tigers are the symbol of German armor - and no one uses them because they die to easy! It doesn't add up. The new rules for Allied armies don't reflect how teh equipment was actually used (Jumbo rules anyone?) and just end up breaking the game to a certain extent.

I am with you Diragi, we need to stick to a specific theater, and play out of the books that reflect that. Also, playing scenarios that reflect the fighting helps a ton too....

Mat forgot to mention that we got the inter club trophy back (it's at my place). after Marty pasted me with his Stewart hoard the other day i was ready to have my ass handed to me. then i tied for 3rd. would have done better if Big_Willie wasn't so dam good at the game

Getting the trophy back means we, as a club, had a lower average score than them - ah well - good effort lads!

The tourney was pretty good though I'm not sure how I felt about the article it read poorly and was filled with his "expert" subjectivity.

Someone posted about the game being too competitive and that's what happens when you pay to play games and you want to win. You don't have to use the internet lists and if you're there to have fun and play games then a game being competitive shouldn't matter should it?

Good tournament though and I'm looking forward to the next.

IMHO the solution for that is to have more door prizes instead of so many best X, best Y, best Z prizes
