Dice Devils goes to Italy

So after some talks with Dennis, Brett and Matt, we have all come to the decision that it would be a brilliant idea to start a "theatre focused" slow grow league/campaign.

Italy is where it will be!! With the new books coming, and the existing Cassino / Dogs and Devils books already out - there are loads of great lists anyone can field- and they are balanced and meant to be used against each other.

We will play it out like the slow grow of old - points increases every 2 weeks, bonus points for painted models, etc.

We will be starting the scoring at the end of March, so it gives people some time to pick the army/list and get things going. I will post details on the scoring soon.

Points spread will look like this :

April 1 - 750pts  (HQ and One Combat Platoon required)
April 12 - 1000pts (HQ and TWO Combat Platoons required as normal)
May 1 - 1250pts - Regular restrictions
May 15 - 1500pts - Regular restrictions
June 1 - 1650pts - Regular restrictions
June 14/15 Weekend - TOTAL WAR - Details to come!!!


Your list can change however you see fit, week to week, during each tier.

Lets use the posts below to talk lists, factions etc, and get an idea of what people plan to play.

I'll start - I am going US (excuse to paint it all!) as either Dismounted Calvary Troop, or  Rifle Company(Nisie)

Looking forward to this - and it should prove to be fun, as well as give us loads to boost the site and profile of the club again.



For Tier 1 - 750pts :

All games will be played on a 4'x4' board for Tier 1. The goal will be to get a minimum of 3 games in per tier against 3 different opponents. Players "scores" will be determined from the outcome of each of the 3 required games only - consider the rest of the games experience and pure fun! Points will be awarded per scenario rules.

For Tier 1, attacker and defender will be determined based on the lists used, and the scenario played. The battles will be logged as I will be tracking the outcome of each game. Just report to me after the game in person, via email, or post on the forum.

We will use the standard scoring system, and points will be awarded to each player. Points will just be that, points. A way to gauge ones success at each tier. We will not be awarding any special abilities as such, to keep each game and tier as fair as possible. I also don't want anyone to get discouraged if they suffer a string of defeats - This is for fun and to motivate people to paint and play more, not less.

Ok so this Italy campaign will be my 'get my random US models painted' event. As such I am going to be doing a Devil's Brigade force since for some reason I have two blisters of them...

This list may change if there is any point breaks in the new book but I'm happy with it as is.

And painting all this will really clear out a tonne of models I've been sitting on for years, not really thinking its gonna be lethal in games but it is super fluffy and should be a challenge (see never played an infantry army, lol) for me to play with!

Well, my DAK are done for Petawawa, thanks to an epic paint-fest at ThunderST's last night.. which means I broke out the French Expeditionary Corps stuff sitting in various boxsets and what not.   I am a bit stymied by what to work on, as I want to echo Joyous Oblivion's plan of using this as a catalyst to get stuff off the painting Queue.  After much rearranging of models, here is what I have on the workbench:

1 60mm mortar team.. the Tirailleur Company (think US Rifles with way less support options but more arty) have a heavy weapons platoon that you dole out the weapons that would normally be in a ARP, like the mortar and 2 LMGs, however, there are 3 mortars in the platoon. I had 2 built for my ARP's   SO I made 1 team lol Keeping the three together while combat attaching the LMGs out means 3 tubes, no rerolls.  

4 recon jeeps.   In the Italy books, the FEC get 4 jeeps as recce.  Had to carve out some Brit drivers from some spare jeeps and kitbash some .30 brownings, but there we go.

'early' Cav Recon, so 2 White scout cars, 1 mortar jeep, 1 .30 browning jeep.   Had to kitbash the mortar jeep, and use the scout cars here.. which means..

1 HQ M3 halftrack with 50cal.. I used to use the scout car as the HQ vehicles, but now they are in the CaV Recon, so I need to make the last of my old halftracks ito a command vehicle.  I had a jeep with trailer as well, which will be the 2IC jeep for my Armoured Rifle Company.

3 57mm anti tank guns plus Bazookas.   I had these but with Brit para crew.   I have spare bazookas.  No brainer.. but it means 3 more gun teams, command, observer, bazookas.

105's x 4.  And then a battery of 105s.   Since the lists are short on everything except Arty, may as well get a unit done.   4 guns, command, , though the observer and staff team are alreadfy done.. at one point I was going to have Priests, and started, but have since sold the priests.

5 M3A1 Stuarts.. While not LW, I want to be able to run a bunch of stuarts for MidWar.  If I have time, I'll work on these too.

GOal: try and get this stuff assembled TODAY before Elder Scrolls goes live tomorrow morning lol.
