It is straight up gone. Wow. I will always have my fond memories of 5th and 6th ed............the end of an era.

Watched a demo online- its a direct move to a Warmachine like rule set - I hate to say it, but its like GW wrote their own "warmachine" game, but simplified the rules for 8 year olds.....

Well seeing as Age of Sigmars rules are all free and so are all the army lists I'll give it a shot. None of you played fantasy in years so maybe this would be more up your alley?

Aesthetically the new army looks in some ways similar to a couple marine models but otherwise their is new fluff and stuff. Basically taking place centuries after the old world died.

Honestly it looks intriguing since fantasy has been truly dead for years now.

Have a read through the rules and the army war scrolls. Not really a rule set designed for an 8 year old. It's flawed right now but for a 1st edition of a new game it might have potential.

I was going to see if any one here was willing to try it out but it looks like not...

I wont give GW a pass on a "1st edition" of new rules. I have read the 4 page pdf, and reviewed the "warscroll" army lists - this cannot be the complete game, as it is almost unplayable. I stand by my statement - this is the ONLY rules I have read that an 8yr old would be able to fully run without and assistance - there is just nothing to them.

Watch some online battle reports - people are trying this, and across the board are finding it straight up doesn't work. I agree that this could become something good, but as it stands, it doesnt look like it is worth spending time on until they do something to fix it.

Funny thing though - I watched unboxings of the new "starter set" and the "Full Rules" are the same 4 page PDF - that's it. Its not some "Ravenous Hordes" temporary free edition - this looks to be the extent of the core rules.

If you want mass fantasy battle - this is simply not the game for it. Kings of War is slated to take that mantle. It is another fantasy skirmish game, but as it stands, it can't hold a candle to the big players in that space.

Too bad really, as there were so many ways this could have been done - but making it look like 40k and give it half-assed rules was not the way to go.

Time will tell, and I will admit it if my predictions are wrong.

This all said - I AM down with pulling out my Chaos or Dwarves and giving Kings of War a go.....

I'll wait and see if this game goes anywhere. Maybe try it at GW. Not really keen on learning Kings of War currently as no one played fantasy before so I don't imagine many will play Kings of War, especially in our group. As to it looking like 40k...still don't get that, aside from the bases. Still uses all the current fantasy armies.

As for now we just wait and see what GW does with this, I'm optimistic but that could just be wishful thinking that GW finally made fantasy relevant again.

Just got back from sentry box.. and they had these models there. Owner says that his gw rep says not new starter box as we would kmow it.. its for kids.. no mini rulebook inside. As to wtf the angel models are supposed to be who knows.. but they are well sculpted. When I said I was from ottawa, he asked me if I play world of tanks. I said I used to, now its world of torps only. He said his wot guild is mostly ottawagamers.. he knows jason kebic lol. And randy fro fd2 and supplies a few of the local ottawa ga e stores for fow (orleans and on bank) His store is wicked, I bought up a bunch of very oop fowblisters I couldnt even get at historicon or gary's.
Should be interesting to see what the new whfb books look like if this really isnt the new stuff.

From everything I've heard and read this is the new fantasy. There is a stormcast eternal statue in from of GW offices in the UK and the eagle on the building is the Sigmarite eagle thing.

I haven't played the game...but has anyone on here? Do we know it's terrible? Do we know it has no strategy?

As I've been reading through the war scrolls it looks like the rules of the game are more in the units and less the core rulebook.

I'm not saying you guys can't hate the game but honestly I'd have expected you to at least try it before giving up on it like the rest of the Internet. I have several massive fantasy armies and no one in our group has any interest in playing in years.

Finally a game changing new set of rules comes out, which may not be good but may be fantastic amounts of fun and without even trying it everyone has written it off as an 8 year olds game, or 40k style fantasy or whatever.

Anyways, I was pretty jazzed about trying this out despite its relevant simplicity but honestly I'm not even bothering now. The anti-GW hate is just too ingrained in fucking everyone now it's pointless. Back to MTG for me.
