Looking forwrd to painting in 28 mm again tbh.
I'd be down, but what system?
Re: Warhammer Fantasy is dead.....
28mm? Sounds like infinity to me
Jk. Back on topic. If I were to start wfb today the new warmachine model definitely seems better suited to gw's current model style than what they have before. Shame about the space marines / obsoleting so many models. Also kings of war seems to be doing ranked warfare much better.
Not sure I will play either though.

Re: Warhammer Fantasy is dead.....
honestly, if we are looking at 28mm fantasy - Warmachine/Hordes is a better game......less to paint, etc.

Yeah.....the only argument that seems be being made in its defense is: "Well 40k has points and its still unbalanced, so there is no need for points to make a balanced game".... not sure if people see the logic fail there but whatever.....
Re: Warhammer Fantasy is dead.....
But as we all know the issue there is that gw can't assign points properly if their lives depended on it. Making the user make the choice doesn't make the issue go away.. Just passes the buck on the pain.
Shame, they have awesome minis, a skirmish have would highlight that even better.

Maybe im in the minority.. but I dont want skirmish. I want the massed rank and file units, the tactics of lining up charges, flanks, and the uncertainty of what spell or magic item does that leader have?

Then its Kings of War time!
AoS demo - at Black Knight Games (Jay Mason-Grant!) - Doesn't look like what we are after, but leave it up to you guys.....
Re: Warhammer Fantasy is dead.....
Seems like it is set to be a totally different game, but I dunno if that means it's bad. There are some interesting idea in there, like not having points, and letting people collect and use whatever they want, and changing the victory conditions to make it a bit fair. They have been moving away from balanced tournament lists for years, so it is kind of a progression. I don't beleive for a second that GW has no intention of selling me a rule book for their games, and even army books to boot. So I am expecting that we will see more to come. Kind of how the Lord of the Rings game started out smaller and added more with every book.
What people are saying about it not being super deep and complex is probably true. But that can be a good thing as well, it gets hard to remember how to play so many games, Flames of WAr, Infinity, Lasalle, DBA, DBMM, the list just goes on forever. So having games that are super quick to pick up and have a bit of fun with seems good to me. But admittedly it will never be that tournament set where you play dozens and dozens of games with, but that is not all bad per say.
I am mainly interested to see what they come up with what new armies will there be and what new books. I imagine to sme extent it depends on sales.
Thanks;
Mike

Re: Warhammer Fantasy is dead.....
FWIW GW has just put up an errata/FAQ for AoS that helps it be able to be used more competitively.
I'll wait on Kings of War, not sure anyone will buy in. Then again, maybe this was a spark and we can get some epic fantasy battles going.
I've ordered the AoS box from Black knight games (Jay) so you will have to bear some new AoS posts on the blog

There are points but it's done by wounds on the table. And yes their are balancing rules in place that make an army of 100 Gobbos able to fight 100 chaos warriors.
As for warmahordes...its its own thing already. It doesn't really fit into the fantasy genre for me. If some or all of you actually commit to Kings of War and play/paint, I will jump aboard but for now I'm giving this AoS thing a real shot.
Re: Warhammer Fantasy is dead.....
I would be up for giving Kings of war a go with my Orcs,
i will have to see if i can find the rules/army list online,
Thing is i already wish i got to play more WarmaHordes and FoW,
but KoW would be fun to try out,

I downloaded them all, so I will have them should anyone want them.

Re: Warhammer Fantasy is dead.....
we should definitely give KoW a try,
if only because warhammer fantasy battle truly is a thing of the past..

Re: Warhammer Fantasy is dead.....
Really good read - explains my thoughts on the whole thing - I will still try AoS, but I agree that it has no gravity/weight - yet.
