This JUST IN!

Written by Matt Gilbert, Kings of War: Uncharted Empires is a supplementary book hitting retailer shelves toward the end of the year. It contains nine Force Lists allowing you to field the minor races of Mantica as fully fledged armies on the tabletop.
We don’t yet make miniatures for these armies, but you may own a similar army and want to play with them using the Kings of War 2nd Edition Rules – these force lists allow you to do exactly that!
This 64-page book includes lists for:
1. The League of Rhordia (Neutral human/halfling army)
2. Ratkin (Evil former slave race)
3. The Brotherhood (Good human army, knight/water elemental themed)
4. The Empire of Dust (Evil skeleton army, ancient Empire and ancestors of the Ophidians)
5. Reptilians (Good army of Salamanders and others)
6. The Herd (Neutral beastman army of satyrs, centuars, minotaurs etc.)
7. The Varangur (aka The Shattered Clans, Evil humans worshipping an ancient deity)
Plus two surprise lists

How do you figure? They both have hair. And we have nicer basements. Anyways, I think I might be in. Now I just have to find some cool models. Maybe British Redcoats circa 1776 or maybe the Zulu Wars. Or perhaps the Crusades or something similar. Armour would paint up quickly.CA$H wrote:Damn, these guys seem like us,,,,

I am doing Perry Minaitures plastics French Napoleonics on 28mm.. and Tris and I were chatting about it on Vent yesterday and we were looking at their line of Samurai's.. I could see you doing that. Or reddcoats.. Sharpes Rifles anyone? I just need to shoe-horn in a french Wizard... (mime )

Mantic has clearly stated that the Kindoms of Men list was built to allow anyone to use whatever historical figures they wanted to play Kings of War. I am looking at English Civil War figures from Perry as they are some of the nicest 28mm Pikemen/Heavy armored Cavalry models I can find - and its 30-40 guys for @25 USD.
Re: Kings of War
that actually a really cool idea,
base / unit sizes and WYSIWYG (within reason) is all that matters,
as long as the guys that should have riffles have riffles, and the guys that should have pikes have pikes and the cannon is a cannon, etc, why not
it actually adds a whole new level of flavor to the game, besides, i would like to know how it would have turned out if goblins had fought in the English civil war..

Oh ok, I was thinking that you were using 1800s Napoleonics. War of Roses (Civil War) are very reminiscent of WHFB Bretonnians (at least the archers I looked at).

Another option could be Warlord Games' Pike and Shotte if you want an Empire looking army.

Re: Kings of War
I have a Wayland order cart saved choke full of War of the Roses regiment boxes - just waiting on the full rulebook release before pulling the trigger...
Re: Kings of War
Duane! Do Samurai and you can add these Ogres!

Re: Kings of War
Huh... the Perrys' do have some pretty nice Japanese minis; though for beasts Bushido might be better to look at: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Nevertheless; if I buy in I will have to go with the English War of the Roses / Bretonnian just because I've spent a bunch of them and never really used them.

Re: Kings of War
Cool.. which fction for WoR? I have zero idea of who fought who in that, and will it be the same faction as Tristan's?

It was Lancaster versus York (called WotR because each house had a different coloured rose for an emblem) -- no idea if they would be the same faction

Re: Kings of War
They would both be Kingdoms of Men - and both have the same unit make ups....just one would have white rose emblems, another red.
Re: Kings of War
Kingdom of men is a pretty diverse list,
should be able to make pretty diverse lists,

Yeah when I make my French Napoleonics it'll be real diverse.. men with arquebusses, guys on horses, and some cannons.

Re: Kings of War
How ironic... when you guys were kicking the can on Naps I wanted 28mm but everyone else wanted 15mm.

Hmm for all the Napoleonic guys... can always grab some natives from 7-year war models as melee models.
