Gaming New Years Resolutions Empty Gaming New Years Resolutions

Post  Matt Varnish Fri Dec 14, 2012 1:45 pm

I've seen these on various sites like WWPD, and while they invariably get broken, I can at least write mine down and see how long it takes for me to fail!

Not buy a single model in 2013: I have a metric tonne of modles to paint just for flames of war, and am now 'cheating' and buying my Modern War force in late December, so I can truly go for this goal.

Finish Armies: In keeping with the above, I want to finish my stuff. I have a years' worth of painting, so I will finish my Brits: 8 Crusaders, 6 Grants 3 Recce Carriers, 4 25lbrs, 4 lorries,
Finish my Free French: 5 Stuarts, 5 Shermans, 3 Priests, 4 x 105's
Work on my Moderns.. no idea the time frame or models, don;t have a game under my belt yet so not sure what Im going to be painting:
Start my DAK: finish assembling my DAK and start on these guys. This will push me into next year.
Soviets: At some point, do some soviet infantry for my russian army so i can run MW lists.

So yeah Zero Models in 2013. I think I can last till.... hmmm... April 25th Smile

Good call on the thread. For me:

-Stick to the 3 FoW armies I now have. MW/LW Germans, LW Brits, LW Americans(possibly MW without buying anything)
I say stick - so I can still buy/paint - just don't start a 4th faction.

-Run a campaign for FoW - a full, proper one, with resource/territory management, the whole nine yards.

-Learn and play some more Infinity - it seems to fit the bill for my "other game" apart from FoW - and I can use the old 40k terrain!

-Push Dice Devils forward - make is a more inclusive club, and grow the player base, across more game systems. Infinity being just one of many, as I think DD is a great vehicle for Matt Varnish to spread Force on Force love also.

I think these are all reasonable, and obtainable.

Just checked, they added the lone 76mm Sherman, and it has 'Detroits Finest', cleaned up the Partisan special rule (it was badly worded before) and there is a small price reduction on a few things that were costed at V2 prices, 5 points here, 5 points there (on stuff I dont use lol) I'll have to dig out the 76mm gunbarrel from my bits box.

I want to finish the Avengers project and not get dragged into infinity. It looks like a different version of nercomunda with sweet models. I followed the link Ca$h posted and think the Ajax model looks awesome. The rest of the faction is schma. I found that for a bunch of the line and almost couldn't believe that no one has had a fit for the faction that is clearly a rip off of Hamas.

If the Hamas models were 15mm I'd be all over it, since I just dropped 380 bucks on Modern Warfare Smile

Well its from England, and thus includes my share of the ludicrous shipping and duties. And its an entire army, about the size of my Brits. 20 Inf stands 10 transports, 8 tanks, 1 Hind-D, 4 AT scout cars (its funny to have tank killers mounted on "jeeps" but with Missiles, you can put them just about anywhere) and some AA ZSU-23-4 Shilkas and a radar installation. No plastics Sad

That seems really pricey :O

Guess if its less mainstream there isn't a Wayland option for it.

You can afford $350+ for modern warfare and not $37 for an Infinity fireteam?

my new years resolution is to get den to buy the Joan of Arc 2.0 model as well as the FORCE DE RÉPONSE RAPIDE MEROVINGIENNE starter for infinity. To bad Duane is already doing that army. Maybe if i get Den the Swiss guard model for PanOceania.

I'm planing to get my SS done next year as well as 200 pts worth of Infinity done and atleast 1 warmachine army up to 50 pts.
