Big changes- PP getting very community focused - worth a read...
This is the sign of a company waking up to their community and moving in the right direction

2016 seemed to be banner years for GW and PP, both doing amazing things for their brand and their supporters. I'm glad to see PP keeping lockstep with GW and making 2017's future look super bright!

tldr version:
To achieve this result, we need to make two significant changes to the way we publish products:
While that is an excellent idea it does raise the question of making sure that your opponent the current version of the card. Like hopefully they have a global version number so that you can easily check that your opponent has PDF version 1.1321 and not have the versions on an individual model.
I don't know if FoW needs to go in this direction, as the system has a much simpler per-unit ruleset (ie no real unique abilities), but I like that the Errata is built into the game rather than something you have to know to check for and use.
To achieve this result, we need to make two significant changes to the way we publish products:
- First, we will stop printing model rules and stats in books. The long lead times for layout, proofing, printing, and shipping are counterproductive to the idea of involving our community in the field testing of models that will be available a short time later. Separating model rules from books allows us to deliver relevant print materials alongside related models while closing the gap between the field tests and the model releases.
- The second significant change to the way we deliver products is that stat cards will no longer be included with most WARMACHINE & HORDES models. Packing cards with all products is not compatible with the goal of creating a game environment that can be maintained at the speed of modern digital content delivery. As with books, the printing and packing of cards increases the time between the field tests and the delivery of models. Moreover, our data suggests most of our players use the War Room mobile app for card collecting, army building, and game play, and War Room does allow us to maintain the game rules at digital speeds. We realize that not everyone has a mobile device suitable for the app or even necessarily wants to use War Room as a reference tool, so we will also be providing our entire stat card library online as downloadable, printable PDFs for free. And for those who prefer good old-fashioned card stock, we will make the cards available through a print-on-demand service for a nominal cost.
While that is an excellent idea it does raise the question of making sure that your opponent the current version of the card. Like hopefully they have a global version number so that you can easily check that your opponent has PDF version 1.1321 and not have the versions on an individual model.

The App I'd cool, I think it is the way to go for tourney play, force the players to link and play together with the app.. but for casual play it is less appealing to me
Over all I think making the cards available for printing is good, I agree with Duane that they need some kind of versioning system to ensure you are using g the latest cards..
I would be annoyed if I had bought more then 2 decks though.. are they free on war room now?

Agreed. To Paraphrase Nigel Stillman from ~20 years ago playing a game should be a contract for both parties to have fun. ie: in casual play people shouldn't have to worry about min-maxers. And there's something nice about having all the books.
