Beta Weekend: Wings Over Water
Things are about to get a whole lot of lift around here. "Lift," you ask? It's what keeps planes in the sky and out of the water, silly. You guessed it, it's time for the carriers!
Storming across the seas following our previous beta weekend, we're pleased to announce that it's time for a new wave of captains to join the ranks of our testing cohort. The testing period is scheduled to run January 23 - 25. How do you gain entry into such an elite group of individuals? Read on!
Gaining Entry to the Beta Test Weekend
It's fairly simple, really, you're going to need to file an application. Keep in mind that submitting an application does not guarantee entry into the testing group. Click the button below to get started!
If you're already an active member of the alpha test, or you participated in the previous beta weekend, then you're in luck--you're already invited! You'll simply download the beta test client (when it becomes available) and sign in on the appropriate day.
If by some twist of fate you've already got an invite code burning a hole in your pocket, then you'll need to redeem it before you're able to play. Once redeemed, follow the instructions to get in on the fiercest action this side, or any side really (we do live on a spheroid after all), of the seven seas!
Signups start today.

Only for those with prior beta invites though D. I tried to get tris and matt to get in, and it seemed like their website said "not taking applications at this time" so either they were too early or too late, IE all full up on testers/

Oh well. There's always open beta. The only advantage of playing now is (if you play enough games) you probably will get a free ty prem ship (which will more than likely suck donkey balls).

If videos featuring screechy 15-year olds isn't your cup of tea then there's always the dulcet tones of Admiral Jingles (and his annoying chuckles). Only looked at a few minutes but seems like he's doing his usual thorough review (he thinks the game is awesome sauce) -- instead of here i am being leet. His review is great because the only major personal that talked about the game so far was SilentStalker from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (wot rumour site) and he's a giant tool (who happened to think that WoWS was meh).

Re: WoWS mega thread
Yeah this was a way better review.. and I even learned a few things.. such as.. the HE and AP rounds have different travel times... he was 'not leading enough' in my opinion most of the time and then those AP rounds were still hitting. I was typically using the AP rounds at very close ranges, but its nice to know they work at all ranges. I didn't know about the armour repair teams for Battleships either. Thanks for posting it D.

Ya I didn't how the BB repairs worked either. HE vs Ap... I'm not to clear when to use them either. One guide says use AP versus similar class ships and HE otherwise. Another suggests using AP at long range (plunging fire) and at close range (at waterline) and HE otherwise as amour will eat most of the damage.

That's the beauty.. it hasn't been meta gamed yet The plunging fire makes sense, but mainly for the 'artillery' class of guns, IE the lower tier destroyer guns seem to me to have a very much higher arc then main battery guns.

worldofwarships.eu/en/news/common/cbt-announcement/
World of Warships has successfully sailed through the rough waters of Alpha testing, so it is with great pleasure that we can announce the game is entering the port of Closed Beta very soon. It is going to stay anchored there for a while, so you’d better get settled in!
When?
Closed Beta testing will start 12 March 2015. Details will be shared with you on the portal on this day.
How?
Here comes the slight catch, folks. As the game is still being worked on by our developers to make it really something, we cannot let everyone in. Not just yet. That’s why we have the Closed Beta phase, which we are entering now.
Read closely now. You will get an opportunity to access the Closed Beta play testing by applying through an open form, which is going to be published on the very day of the Closed Beta launch. After reaching a certain number of applications, we will disable the form to stop the flood of requests.
So keep an eye on the portal. If you snooze, you lose!

Actually he's just calling in sick to apply for beta. Doubt they'll approve beta testers same day they open the gates for submissions lol.
Re: WoWS mega thread
I don't have to apply for anything I'm already in. And no there is no point in calling in since last time it went live 6pm est only hah

You sure our beta invites work for this next phase?
Re: WoWS mega thread
I hope so.. hmm. Then all the Euros get first dibs then, by dint of being able to get off work before North America and getting all the slots.. which makes little sense to me.

I would imagine the beta testing would be regional as well. Each area would have a cut off limit and such. But I'm just thinking logically, heavens know Wargaming doesn't always think logically lol.

ofc not, "Lets delay the british navy for a year while we put in fake Russian 'napkin' ships that Stalin drew up while taking a steambath in his dacha in Sochi" hahahaha.

Re: WoWS mega thread
From the horses mouth: Start applying today those who didn't alrdy get in.
2 Questions:
1.) Any idea about the TIME it will start?
2.) Can we download the Client anywhere BEFORE CBT starts? Could be a little data traffic jam when all weekenders want to d/l at the same time.....
1. Shall be announced, but will be during the day.
2. Since you are a Weekender, try if you can again access the Member Page on portal already. If not, you should get access there on 12th the latest.

Fantastic news .-) I hope, weekend warriors are CB testers, no application is needed..
Yes, as announced during BWs, Weekend Testers will have automatic access to CBT (unless they were really naughty ). As written above, you should get access to Member zone (and to client DL) on Thursday the latest, but likely before.
