Berlin Wall? Didn't that come down in 1989? Team Yankee takes place in 1985.

the soviet union collapsed in 1991, the wall was a slip of the tongue by Günter Schabowski.

Schabowski read the note aloud at the end of the press conference. One of the reporters asked when the regulations would come into effect. After a few seconds' pause, Schabowski, assuming it would be the same day based on the wording of the note, replied: "As far as I know — effective immediately, without delay."

It was live tv so the people then just walked to the wall and asked to go over, the guards didn't know anything about it but they let them.

So ive been reading over the rules to play a game tonight.

Man am I in love. As a Tank Commander the game much more accurately represents tank warfare. How they move and shoot is so much better then Flames

Honestly, I was pretty skeptical but I like how it plays and I like how the games seem to be pretty quick 1h to 1.5h

Ya, I'm not a fan of the no-move and shoot at full ROF or move and shoot once (extra noticeable with ROF 3 tanks). I would prefer if everyone could move and shoot at a penalty (like stabs) and tanks with stabs don't have the penalty.

That's the difference between having to manually aim a gun on a tank vs having a computer that calculates for 70 different variables and aligns the weapon for you aka M1A1, M1A2 calculated for 120 variables, my friends dad was the lead on the targeting system upgrade from M1A1 to M1A2 for general dynamic here in ottawa.

I find flame of war does tanks properly for the time period.

I think the reason for the reduced ROF is more that it is incredibly inaccurate, but i guess they could have said that they can fire at full ROF with +2 to hit.. +1 with Stabilisers..

I think the shooting mechanism works pretty well in FoW,

i like how brutal TY ias though, Dennis decimated my when he got first turn.. really need to hide better before turn 1..

looking forward to trying out some of the scenarios,

A.

First simple game in the books, just some tanks and choppers. Really like how the game flows, really shocked at some of the speeds and how quickly units zip around.

The ROF thing makes sense, speaking from experience its still very difficult to engage targets on the move without a balisitic computer. Id have to imagine youll see later vehicles moving and shooting at full ROF

Dennis/Matt"

Blitz moves work for any unit type

FAQ Example:

Can Blitz my Helicopters to land, then Blitz the passengers
out, before then having the Helicopters take off again in
their normal movement?

Yes. A Blitz move does not count as Movement, so at that point
the Helicopters still have not ‘moved’. This allows the passengers
to dismount before the Helicopters take their movement.

so yes, you can blitz hunter-Killer helos to allow them to move and still shoot because Blitz doesn't count as moving. Still looking for how the blitz move interacts with the unlimited movement speed of helos.

Also in the FAQ:

Can Aircraft use Movement Orders?
Yes they can.
Can Helicopters land in a Blitz Movement Order.
Yes they can.

So we allowed the Lynx to Blitz on to the board behind some woods, 4" on, and fire. Seems right....I'm not sure about Blitzing OFF the board Dennis, but if your already within 4" of the board edge, I cant see why not... lol

So you can have your choppers off board then blitz on and shoot your TOWs..

Pretty cool, I will have do do more reading about movement orders, we will have to try it when we play next, be interesting to see if it makes the game less bloody.. and also if it makes the game take longer to play..
