Re: Team Yankee
A lot of the kit that counters BMP swarms is only recently coming online. Brit medium Recce or a full Troop of Gepards will basically annihilate a BMP platoon per turn

Re: Team Yankee
I never looked at the list, but seems like the East Germans will mainly use their tanks to destroy all of the suport formations like Vulcans and Artillery and what have you, and other things the kill tanks? I am surprised that you guys are getting so into Team Yankee, we played it a fair bit but I never really saw the Russians loose and I got tired of it after not that long. As I recall all the missions were decided by killing things so I never felt that made a big difference, and allot of the infantry is not very good. Maybe it is allot better now that there are more then just the 2 forces.
I also found it frustrating how Cobras couldn't / didn't move at all and it didn't really feel like I was using helicopters. In our mega-battle it just made things even worse for the Americans and I didn't enjoy it at all really.
Kind of neat to read the stuff that comes up on you guys blog anyway.
Thanks;
Mike

Re: Team Yankee
It is interesting. I keep hearing that Soviets are just steam rolling, but we haven't really had that problem within our gaming group. It maybe that the Soviets haven't really been spamming air assets and we've been mostly sticking to ground based warfare. (That or Matt Varnish and I are really bad).
I suspect if that's the reason, that it'll become a better game when we get more comprehensive books in the future, as they should bring up NATO AA to a reasonable level.
For me, I really don't like Hunter Killer, I can see it's use, but I like my aggressive stuff. I've found that I've been able to live without them.

When I watched the event the Gagetown guys put on, the power the Soviets could bring was obvious. Dude had like 30 BMP-2's and 10 T-72.
As always, in a dice game, more rolls is advantageous. That many missiles flying around is gonna kill things, and if you don't have an answer for it in your army, I can see how it would be frustrating

Re: Team Yankee
Until we see T-80's, Soviets are still the swarm army. Even if you run mostly T-72's, you're going to be mostly trying to out number NATO armies.
Currently, there isn't too bad of a difference between British Chieftain spam (6pts/tank) and Soviet T-72 spam (5pts/tank).

I find the spam is much easier to deal with in TY in my (very) limited experience.
I lost 5 T-72 to a single Chieftain last night

Re: Team Yankee
The thing I don't understand about BF's approach to this is why they would make force orgs that allow spamming like this. The obvious answer is selling models..
I don't have alot on interest in playing against min max armies, haven't played enough TY to really say if minimizing is/can be an issue,

Yeah thirty of anything on a 6 foot board is a bit much.. I find my motor rifles x1 to take up a lot of real estate, cant see how I'll run 2.
