Re: Team Yankee
It makes it more bloody - we played two 60 point games in 2.5 hours last night...and movement orders dont slow things down, its a single roll that can add tactical flexibility, provided you pass the test lol
There was A LOT more movement and mobility in our games too...60 points seems dead on for 4'x6'...maybe 75pts would work...depends on unit composition...but might get crowded, worth testing...

Re: Team Yankee
so who is playing what, i'm guessing almost everyone is playing nato forces? just curious cause i may as well pick up a small force as well if everyone else has it. I was thinking germans but if we have 7/2 ratio of nato ill just pull out some T-80U.
Re: Team Yankee
I'm the only US player in the group so far I think... Blue on Blue is inevitable as there are more NATO Factions than Soviet so far...
I REALLY like how light and efficient the rules are, plays way faster and is very "killy", stuff dies and it is unforgiving of bad moves and deployment. It has rekindled 15mm for me for sure... I wont say I prefer it to FoW just yet, but for FNF, the light rules makes it more fun, as I don't have to be so "on" to have fun competitive game if that makes sense. I didn't think Id like it, but I do....a lot.

Re: Team Yankee
You guys played TY on Tuesday night instead of Warmahordes? It really seems WMH is winding down in our group
I agree TY plays well for FNF, the 150 on 150 mega battle was alot of fun too,

East Germans are coming out in January apparently. So there's another Red option coming down the pipe. And more comprehensive Soviet and US books are coming out later in the year.

Re: Team Yankee
east germans would have no equipment that could deal with nato tanks, as matt varnish mentioned earlier. I'd have to see what they do with them, I may just go with Russia.
Re: Team Yankee
The Wargames Illustrated this month had mentioned that they'll have access to T-55AM2's which can't hurt them from the front, but definitely can from the side. However, they're 10 for 14pts-ish (Hard to tell from the snap shot), and you can easily take 31 in a formation. That and they'll still have access to BMP-2's and T-72M's (export model).
With all my T-55's I currently have, I figure I'll make a list like this:
x1 - T-55AM2 Panzer Battalion HQ (1pt ?)
x10 - T-55AM2 Panzer Kompanie (14pts)
x10 - T-55AM2 Panzer Kompanie (14pts)
x10 - T-55AM2 Panzer Kompanie (14pts)
x10 - T-72M Panzer Kompanie (~47pts ?)
x8/5 - BMP-2 Motor Rifle Company w/ SA-14 Gremlin AA Missile Team (~10pts ?)
100pts
Because spam...

Re: Team Yankee
Why are the T55s cheaper then leopard 1s? It seems strange that you can spam that much high front armour..

Re: Team Yankee
Some rules we don't know yet.
The cannon has "basic stabiliser" (leopard 1 has "stabiliser), and slow firing (+1 on defensive fire). Both have Laser Range finders.
Leopard 1 is faster, has a better cross value (2+ opposed to 4+) and hit on a 4+ (opposed to T-55's 3+). Leopard 1 has better remount, skill, and assault stats as well.
If feel as though basic stabiliser will provide a +1 to hit if you move... Or maybe can only move 6" without a +1 modifier.

Re: Team Yankee
Yeah, but if you can field that many high front armour targets you can just slowly roll across the board.. the Leo 1 is more then twice the price and has no real staying power, (armour 9 front can even be penned by some AA) balancing this game is going to be very interesting..

Re: Team Yankee
I play Soviet, will probably branch into WG for Leo-2 or Cav Scout US when its released.
in Pet we currently have
Me - Soviet
Dan - American
Louis - WG
CJ - Brits
Bobs been toying with the idea of Brits, but its a little concerned about the investment and then having newer kit released when the new books come out.

Re: Team Yankee
Definitely a concern. It looks like 14pts for 10, but it could be upwards of 16pts. It's really hard to see clearly.
Again, the "basic stabiliser" will probably be "hens and chicks" level of nerf. It'll probably shift the meta of list building from concentrating on MBT's to concentrating on more guns for NATo forces. I suspect it'll also encourage bringing carpet bombing aircraft (Harriers and Tornadoes). Which will push for maintaining air superiority and destroying your opponent's AA.

Aside from another Soviet list, I can't think of a NATO list that would be able to throw enough lead down range to stop that spam.....Looks like a tourney list...unless they spam air units...
Re: Team Yankee
More dynamic for sure,
Laying mines using bombardments might be really good too,

Re: Team Yankee
Looks like my Canadian Nationals List... And we know how well that went =P
Looks insane until someone brings full flights of Tornadoes or Harriers. A single pie plate should destroy most of each T-55 company.
Though I guess I could make it competitive if I dropped the BMP's and picked up some BMP-1 Recce and Gophers/Shilkas.
The other hard counter I could think of, is a British Mechanised list, spamming Milans.
Also, I'll have a hard time covering my objectives with Airborne Infantry, since this list essentially requires me to push forward with everything.
And yeah... Mines will just stop a company of T-55's if you drop them in the midst of a company.

All things US lacks currently, well, except mines lol....
Can't wait for US missiles to come into the game....

Re: Team Yankee
I think the ideal of 40 tanks might be a little silly, but 25 tanks and lots of pints left over for support coudl be pretty deadly..
Time will tell, my thing is I don't think we will really know until we play in a few events and get a feel for it,
The missions might really change the financial if the game too, I have only played the free for all one so far

Re: Team Yankee
Missions matter - big time.
And the "Battleplans" because you can gear a list for night fight or offense on purpose for example...
The bidding to attack/defend is cool too... it all helps. The nice thing too is the new defensive missions are NOT defender wins automatically "UNLESS".... totally changes the dynamic....

Re: Team Yankee
It sounds bad. But as someone who is intimately aware of Hens and Chicks... It kicks you hard. Especially since you have increased mobility and can just drive away... Forcing me to keep moving.
Most the time, I can only bring about 4 or 5 tanks into the flank of a tank to get side shots (and with only a ROF of 1...). And I'll need a minimum of 5+ (6+ if you're canny enough to use cover or smoke). So even if I do get across the board, it's not likely to add up to much until after a turn or two of getting into your flank.
And a cross of 4+ with a huge formation, I'm going to avoid area terrain and stay in a 6" bubble around my command tank. Artillery and cluster bombs will be your friend.
It'll be interesting to see it on the table to see if it is as bad as it sounds. I do know that the guys in Gagetown keep complaining that you can't stop a Soviet BMP swarm currently, but that may be because of the AT-5 missile spam.
