$160 vs GW $190 - Ill split but I'd want the book lol
Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
And wow -we played morale wrong Andrew. I was wondering why so many models die/flee to high rolls on morale - its roll a die and add the number of removed models - NOT roll 2D6 LOL
Duh...

Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread

It sounded like undead fantasy when you were talking about it. I was thinking how are my guard going to survive with leadership 6, ill need a commissar for each unit lol
Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
Leadership 8 is alot more viable now that the test is taken on one dice, I am stoked to play it a bit more and see how it goes

Cash, I can just trade you the Nurgle components from my Starter Box I bought a while back for the Primaris stuff of your starter box and then we don't have to worry about passing about monies.

Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
Interesting tid bit from the "Designers Commentary" pdf:
Q: If a unit piles in or consolidates into a unit it didn’t declare a charge against in the preceding Charge phase, does that unit get to fire Overwatch?
A: No.
Remember though that units that charged can only make close combat attacks against units that they declared the charge against, even if pile-in moves, etc. bring them within 1" of a different unit.

Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
Correct, but the unit that was pulled into gets to fight even though the unit consolidating into combat doesnt get to fight,
It seems you can consolidate into an second combat to avoid overwatch but you will take the close combat hits.

Dan ordered in the "OPEN WAR" pack of cards for me - $17 flat.
12 x Deployment cards - 12 different player deployments;
12 x Objectives cards - 12 different objectives for winning the game;
12 x Twist cards - 12 different special rules that can be used to add a special factor to the game, such as acid rain, orbital debris and fighting in the dead of night;
6 x Ruse cards - 6 different cards that can be used to glean an advantage, such as ambushing or digging in – used to counter a higher power rating;
6 x Sudden Death cards - 6 different cards that provide different ways to win if you are significantly outnumbered – if your enemy has a power rating at least twice that of yours, you get a secret advantage to use as you wish!
Cant wait to try them out next game!

LOVE the idea that each player has a different objective -- and you can randomize deployments  - so much variety in mission building.
Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
I am interested to see how quickly the games go once we know the rules,

Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
I've been hearing that games are taking a long time for some people. Anyone experiencing this?
Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
Its slow right now, as they changed all the weapon stats, so you not only are learning new mechanics and rules, the stats all changed...so it truly is learning a new system top to bottom practically..
You can t rely on know what a heavy bolter does, because now that all armor can be modified by AP values, you have to learn what it lowers armor by, etc..

Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
Games a bit slow for sure, but I think it has more to do with stats than anything else,
There is alot to look up etc, once we know the rules it should go pretty quick,
A.
Stuff dies pretty quick so late game the turns seem to go pretty fast

Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
All those starter boxes are tempting me. As soon as I commit though people will move on.
Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
just need to make a 2nd ed style cheat sheet, I still have mine from 2nd ed. I'll be sticking to guard for now, i may throw in a splash of marines later since i have some. maybe a patrol or something like that.

Which faction?
Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
Not sure. I used to play* Space Marines. Not sure if I still want to. Leaning towards Orcs.
* I never played, never painted enough to do so. I have 2 tact squads, a land speeder, 5 man terminator squad and a rhino painted, though they look terrible. I think I have another 10 man marine squad and land speeder unless I gave them away, plus a half-assembled predator tank and 5 assault marines somewhere.

Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
That's a sizable force, but Orks are where it's at if you wanna scratch build/convert/kitbash...its a builders dream...but I'm sure you know that...
Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread

Re: 40K 8th Edition Thoughts Thread
Haha, rules may be free but army lists aren't. Looking at GW's website cured me of my interest in this game.
