So looking at those two links... first of all.. must buy all the things.. second.. I think I can use my BTR 70's as BMP1 The tank battalions had their motor rifle companies in bmp while infantry had btr I already have six btrs. I also have 3 BRDM scout cars.. which I guess can only be used as the recce bmp 1 platoon (no missiles just the 20mm cannon)

All I have to buy then is ten more T72's because why not. And any BMP kits I get make them into BMP 2's with the missiles. Six Gvosdika (Carnation) artillery. Six Hinds because Red Dawn. Oh and all the modern terrain lol

Holy crap... The regular T-72 and Abrams plastic kits won't come out till February...

Hmmm... Pretty sure they just pulled a fast one on us... The army boxes had two ACP's in each of them. I even checked my war games illustrated which has a kit preview to be sure. Now they don't... The exact same box and price, but no ACP's.

Thats because if they stamp out M1s and T72s full blast JUST to fulfill the 'deal' boxes, they need more time to run them for the platoon boxsets. The one thing it says though, if you pre order the 'dal' box, because of the delay, they are going to pitch in an extra tank. So I am going to pre order from FDB and get not 9 but 10 T-72s. (wish it was extra Hind-D, but as they are in 1/100 scale not 1/144, it is going to be HUGE compared to my Zvezda one.

But it's the BMP's and M113's that are getting dropped, not the M1's and T-72's.

And even then, the M1's and T-72's aren't going to get a regular box release until February 6th... The only way to play this game is by buying the army box. It just boggles my mind is all.

It really seems as though this game is going to get a chance at a real following. I don't want to see it crash before it starts. I will pick up two Russian army boxes to start anyways, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth when they go so far as to print articles on the components and how it was designed, only to pull the rug from under us and hope we don't notice.

I really like the online army builder...

Just because we got spoiled by Easy army for a few years doesn't make Forces of War a bad thing. In fact I'd love it if GW did anything close to that!!

I do agree about the army builder. We were kind of spoiled due to the price of easy army. But the main difference for me is that I don't buy the book anymore. So, if the book had a code to redeem for the lists in forces of war, I'd buy the book. But as it stands now, and ~$10-15 for the lists in the soft cover books, which is pretty much half of the price, I don't worry too much about the book anymore. Plus with all the digital exclusive lists, the books have become redundant.

And I think Battlefront is fine with that. I'm pretty sure the cost of making the books is a fairly large part of the cost. If they sell less and less books it will just show that their online tool is working.

So I just dropped by FDB and asked about pre-ordering Team Yankee stuff...

They're offering a 20% discount on all pre-orders that you have pre-paid for. This includes stuff that will release down the line, like the stuff releasing in January, as long as it has not released yet.

So yeah, I'm committed. Bought two Russian army boxes and a rulebook...

Yes. And to clarify. The discount is being offered to give them an idea of how much to preorder without over stocking. So, he said he was offering it for all the stuff down the line, as long as you preordered before it released. Eg) ordering a box of tanks in January will get you the discount since it doesn't release till February.

Just made my order through FDB: Book, Potenchkov's Bears (DAAAA BEARSS) and a full battery of 2S1 Gvozdika SP Arty. He said that is I pay for it before release date of Dec 12, it'll be 20% off. I told him I would pre order more if I could read the damned book and see what I can take haha.

To be fair ... looks like they are throwing in free tanks as an apology for the delay. I doubt GW would do that.

The complaint wasn't about the delay, it was that the box originally was advertised to have additional models, but was quietly removed in the days leading up the final release.

The extra tank model is an apology for the delay, that is more than fair. Especially since they really don't owe us an extra model.

But it's the fact that the extra model is only for the pre-order/first wave boxes. It will not be included in later army boxes. Therefore, the army box will remain the exact same price, but two models fewer than what was advertised.

If they did a cost analysis and realized it wasn't viable from a business stand point, sure. It's sloppy, but makes sense. But my point was that it rubs me the wrong way that they just quietly dropped them and expected no one to notice; especially after publishing articles on how awesome it is that they included those models.
